Patrick Ben Soussan and his Big beat band featuring Fabrice Eulry for a live Boogie cd in December 2004 near Lyon France.

The second volume, 8 years after the first Boogie folies : a piano work on a boogistic treatment of international standards : from The Beatles to Rimsky-Korsakov !

Fabrice Eulry composed a Franco-British pianistic poem (he performed in London in 2004 December 9th for the first time answering to the French Ambassade invitation) telling one century of commun history. The 16 theme variations tell about 16 commun Franco-British from 1904 to 2004.(Comments in the 2 languages in the little book inside the cd).

Boogie-Woogie Orchestral (1998) (LISTEN)

From 1997 on, my orchestra grew from  3 to 6, then to 7 musicians.  The repertoire and the style had also changed.   It was again time for a recording.  Patrick Socussois suggested to assemble all the boogie-woogies of our repertoire under the above mentioned name and to have it distributed by his label  «  Djaz-Records ». All the pieces have been recorded with one or maximum two sound tracks,  without  « a safety net » and live.

A live piano-washboard duo with Gilbert leroux who also recorded or played with Cat Anderson, Milt Buckner, Albert Nicholas, Mezz Mezzrow...Gilbert leroux is also an alive legend of the French swing tradition. The cd repertoire comes from Louisiana but there's also a 16 minutes version of Boogie-Woogie expiatoire, a original stride composition, or a stride adaptation of Russian traditionnal...

At the end of  1995, Pierre Nicolaëf, a pianist and producer, asked me for a recording of boogie-woogie including classics as monkey tank train and adaptations of universally known popular songs into boogie-woogies. This fascinating project  was not only  very successful but also  created many developments through Pierre Nicolaëf’s production unit  «  Rhapsody Music »,   such as a concert  at Bobino in  December 1996,  and several television broadcasts.

By joining to the trio of Fabrice Eulry, Marc Laferrière and Jacky Milliet make sure the participation of one of the pianists the most endowed with his generation and by the same, with the presence of the third soloist. It is necessary to recover so how much talented Enzo Mucci and Stéphane Roger, bass player and drummer of the trio, contribute to the success of this recording.
The result is surprising: a particularly varied CD, standards and original subjects interpreted in constantly modified forming(training), in brief the material evidence that, played by professionals of this class, the traditional jazz is a language in full evolution and not music of formerly!

Paris Jook (1995) (LISTEN)

I was engaged to perform three nights in Paris at the Jazz club Latitudes with a trio that at the time I as not familiar. Saxman Big Jay McNeely told me not to worry because the piano player is a “monster on the keys-a true virtuoso” and he uses his trio whenever he performs in Paris. I arrived in town a day before the gig for what amounted to no more than two hours rehearsal only to discover that there was some kind of magic in the air. After the first concert, we felt the magic first hand along with the audience who also enjoyed this union of players that came together to express a love for music that they live. After the second concert, we realize that we should take advantage of today’s modern technology and attempt to capture this meeting of musical souls in a way that it will be shared with others forever. The third and final night of this autumn engagement in Paris found success in what is now packaged as Paris Jook in compact disc form. This recorded live performance represents a wide range of African-American Music as told form the voices and rhythms of the tenor sax, acoustic grand piano, supported by an electric bass guitarist and a swinging in the pocket drummer. Here you will only find honest handmade music performed with an energy and passion that is naturally designed to be a pleasure for your ears as we welcome you to the atmosphere of a magical meeting of music souls.

Enzo Mucci’s love of music is immense, and he apprehends it with an uncanny instinct. He is able to be faithful to the spirit of Django Reinhardt or Willie Dixon when playing either guitar or double bass (without  strictly copying the form), which is quite unusual.  He wanted to record with me for pleasure.  This is the result !

Le Pianiste en Solo (1994) (LISTEN)

Contrary to the first solo album, this record reflects   the mood of the time.  In fact I  still very very attached to this recording , all the more because it has been my  greatest  success.

Le Pianiste en Trio (1993) (LISTEN)

With my first concert at the « Petit Journal St. Michel »  I began with my orchestra and its first recording, wich initiated a long and happy collaboration with «  Le Petit Journal »,  and its cordial atmosphere and where I hope we will share further great times.

The excellent Didier Roullin  at the drums was a real professional player.  As  to Lionel Stievenard , his originality as a saxophonist and his constructive nature makes him a permanent companion for me, with whom I still evolve.

The Petit Journal Saint Michel’s assistance  contributes to a very stimulating and ardent environment.   Even though I was  31 when I first collaborated with the Petit Journal St. Michel, the energy of our work together still makes me feel young whenever I listen to this recording.

Piano Solo (1992) (LISTEN)

This was less a reflection of the time than a heritage of the previous years. I was very keen on doing this record,  since it was the first. So, in that record some forms I used previously still linger and the  « amateur » touch  is more noticeable than in the following recordings.
